Review highlights

Based on 219 reviews

石水烧鱼 Ikan Bakar Broga is widely appreciated for its authentic charcoal-grilled fish and fresh, farm-sourced ingredients, including grilled vegetables like bamboo shoots. Customers frequently highlight the simple, no-frills open-air setting by a serene pond, which provides a natural and relaxed dining atmosphere. The homemade recipes are noted for their flavorful, MSG-free qualities. However, some visitors mention practical concerns such as the lack of mobile reception, open toilet facilities near the pond, and discomfort from the zinc roof on sunny days. Accessibility can be challenging given its location at the end of a remote road, and families are advised to be cautious around the unfenced fishing pond. Overall, it is praised for its traditional, fresh, and wholesome grilled dishes amidst a peaceful environment.

Nice grill fish they serve with their homemade recipe. Good greenery environment near a pond. Can be quite warm in sunny day due to the zinc roof they use. No line reception in that area.

Would be a pretty difficult place if you didn't know what you are looking for. Fish are all grilled over charcoal with difference sauces. All very tasty. Fish are presumably farmed there and are fresh. Also had fresh bamboo shoots which were grilled too. Surrounds are quite serene.

This place is only opened from 11 am to 7pm and closed every Thursday. It is located at the end of the road after all the other eateries. There is a fishing pond in the restaurant area which is not enclosed so those who bring their kids have to keep an eye on them. The toilet is situated in an open area near the pond. It is an open air stall which served grill dishes over charcoal. One can ordered a variety of grill fish, sotong, prawns and grill vegetables. Included in the menu is grilled lamb curry. Prices are quite reasonable. We ordered signature grilled fish, grilled bamboo shoot, grilled sotong Vietnamese Style and grilled lamb curry. All the dishes tasted good, except for the lamb curry which is rather diluted. The amba juice is also very refreshing for the hot weather. Overall lunch is satisfactory. We went for lunch on a Saturday. Took 2 hours from KL. The traffic jam started the moment we entered the Kajang /Cheras Highway right up to the traffic light junction to turn into Nottingham Universiti. High time the authorities looked into the traffic situation there especially the main road .

We have been missing this lovely grilled fish here. The Mr and I have been wanting to come back here but the distance was far about 1 hrs 15mins away from our home. Manage to come here and everything looks the same as before. Homecooked food, no msg, no frills, all au natural sitting by the pond having a sip of wine (BYO) or you can have beer sold here. Just dislike some customer smoking knowing they are baby/ kids. How ignorant and inconsiderate of those people. Cash payment only, no Touch & Go as hardly any telco line here. Grilled by husband and wife now as during weekends the customers keeps coming in even though they closed at 7pm. Owner's mum will sell their own plantation nangka or homemade preserved fruits here at super reasonable price. Definitely recommend foodies here. Great food adventure

Came to this place as recommended by a friend. Situated almost at the tail end a road, this no frills shack served some tasty grilled seafood and vegetables. Grilling is done the old school way; the dishes we ordered were wrapped in aluminium foils and placed on these railings. Since we had kids, we opted for non-spicy dishes. Ordered their tilapia fish with lady’s fingers and goji berry- the fish was fresh and fragrant. There was some of fish stock within the foil that you can slurp/ drink and enjoy together with the fish. The baby squid were fresh and chewy- it was an enjoyable dish. The la-la in the stock was also a welcoming dish; also fresh and tasty. Ordered their lady’s fingers too and not being of fan of this vegetable, I was pleasantly surprised at how tender and tasty the dish turned out to be. You can order rice to go with your dishes. We washed everything down with their homemade calamansi ‘slushie’ which was welcoming as it was cooling and not too overly sweet. The limes used were grown on site according to the owner The family running this farm restaurant is very friendly. They are the 2nd generation of this business taking over their father. The daughter of the business said that they were often confused with another restaurant which is situated right before of them- so if you are looking for them, do drive past Restaurant Ikan Bakar Yap Broga Semenyih and you’ll see a small road leading up to their shack with this beer signboard right infront. With a wonderful view of nature, this is a place we don’t often get to see living in the city or even dining in the city. So do give them a try and you won’t regret it.

Friendly service. You can order in Cantonese or English. Only one type of fish available, which is tilapia. It's nicely dealt with, no muddy water taste. There are also clams and sotong, but we were there just for the fish. Available in multiple preparations, but preferred the plain salt one. However, all the grilling is done wrapped in foil, so you won't get any crispy fish skin, which is a waste. They also have fresh bamboo shoot which is prepared with a slightly sweet lightly spicy sauce. Pricing is reasonable. Open from 11am, closed on Thursdays and public holidays.
